CRIME OF WEEK - PEDESTRIAN FATALITY HIT & RUN

The Midland Police Department needs your help solving a hit & run pedestrian fatality that occurred on February 7, 2023, at approximately 7:25 p.m. in the 1800-1900 block of E. IH-20 north service road.
Upon arrival, a pedestrian identified as Lazaro Resendiz Villafuerte, 51 yoa was found lying in the roadway with life-threatening injuries. The injuries are consistent with being struck by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene. Mr. Villafuerte was transported to MMH ER, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Two separate uninvolved witnesses were driving down the 1800-1900 block of E. IH-20 north service road and observed a pickup parked on the shoulder of the north service road. The pickup had its headlights and hazard lights on and was idling. The witnesses observed a male subject lying in the roadway and immediately called 911.
This portion of IH-20 is remote and was very dark due to being overcast/cloudy that evening. There are no streetlights, and the nearest business is approximately 1,500’ east of the crash location. There are no witnesses to the crash, no video, and no one has come forth with any additional information on this unsolved case.

Recently there have been several incidents of copper wire theft and vandalism to equipment that have impacted Kinder Morgan Co2 well sites in the Snyder and Midland, Texas areas. The Midland County Sheriff's Office and Midland Crime Stoppers need your help in solving a drive by shooting.
On December 19th, 2022, deputies responded to a business in Midland County, Sand Revolution, located at 10504 West County Road 72 in reference to someone shooting at the building while employees were inside. Witnesses observed a white Dodge Ram pickup driving by at a high rate of speed when the shooting occurred.

The Midland County Sheriff's Office and Midland Crime Stoppers need your help in solving a Burglary.
On October 10, 2022, deputies responded to a Burglary of a Residence at 4115 FM 307 in Midland. Upon contacting the victim, deputies learned that a suspect, unknown race or gender drove a white single cab pickup onto the property, walked behind the residence, and forced entry into the locked back door. The victim advised that approximately 10 firearms were stolen from the residence. Through investigation, deputies retrieved a video from a neighbor. The suspect can be seen putting what is believed to be firearms into his truck. The camera was a distance away and the suspect can barely be seen.
The Midland County Sheriff's Office is asking for your assistance in identifying the suspect. If you have any information on this case that leads to the identity and arrest of this suspect, you will be eligible for a $1,000 cash reward. The Midland County Sheriff's Office and Midland Crime Stoppers need your help in solving a burglary. On August 14, 2022, deputies responded to a burglary in the 1300 Block of East County Road 117 in Midland County. The victim advised deputies that 4 young adolescent males unknown race wearing black clothing were in the area when her vehicle was broken into. The victim advised that her purse with several credit cards were stolen and used at Academy Sports in Odessa TX. Through the investigation, investigators retrieved video of two black males wearing black clothing buying several items with the victim's stolen credit card.

We know the surveillance photos are not the best quality, but if you can identify these scrub-wearing thieves and it leads to an arrest or case solved, it will be worth a $1,000 CASH REWARD. The Midland County Sheriff's Office and Midland Crime Stoppers need your help in solving a crime.
On July 24th, 2022, the Midland County Sheriff's Office Detention Facility went into lockdown due to heavy smoke in the detention facility. Upon investigation, a suspect wearing a Dallas Cowboy Football jersey, jeans and a baseball cap was seen throwing a lit road flare on top of the building attempting to burn the facility down. The suspect can be seen standing on Washington Avenue throwing the flare onto the building.

CRIME OF THE WEEK - BURGLARY - MPD

On June 13, 2022, at approximate 1:05 a.m., two male suspects driving a black Chevrolet Tahoe burglarized both Sherwin Williams stores located at 2215 N. Midland Dr and 3110 N Loop 250 W. The suspects stole multiple paint sprayer rigs from each location totaling approximately $8,204 and thousands more in damage to the two windows they broke.
On June 21, 2022, two suspects matching the same description, driving the same vehicle burglarized two Sherwin Williams stores and an Outdoor Power and Equipment store in Amarillo, TX.
The suspects may or may not be from this area, but if you recognize the body type, clothing/shoe description or sound of voice, submit an anonymous tip and you could earn a cash reward if your tip leads to their arrest or case cleared. Please reference MPD CN 220613010.

The victim states that on April 7th, 2022, at approximately 10:57 p.m., a black male and a black female entered the store. Once inside the store the male suspect distracted the two cashiers while the female suspect stole several cartons of cigarettes. On April 8th, 2022, the same couple along with another black female entered the store and once again stole several cartons of cigarettes totaling over $8,000. If you have any information on these suspects and it leads to an arrest and or case solved, you will be eligible for a $1,000 cash reward. Midland Crime Stoppers is asking the public’s help for any information on a missing person. Caitlin Denison.
On January 2018, Caitlin Denison of Reno, NV, told her family she was in Midland, Texas with a man she met in Reno. Her family advised they received a call from Caitlin sometime on January 10, 2018, telling them she felt scared for her life. She has not been seen or heard since then. Caitlin is described as 5 feet, 120lbs, blond hair, and blue eyes. Caitlin has a tattoo on her left finger of an alien head and the letter “M”. She also has a tattoo of a Libra scale on her left forearm. She has 2 piercings on each side of her nose and a piercing on her bottom lip. If you have any information on Caitlin Denison, it would be worth a $2,500 cash reward. No caller ID is ever used, and you will remain anonymous.

On March 30th, 2022 Deputies responded to Lightning Oil Services located at 11923 WCR 122 in reference to a Theft of copper wire. The victim states that the chain link fence on the northwest side of the property had been cut and approximately $200,000 worth of copper wire was cut and stolen off one of the rigs. Midland County Investigators are currently working on this investigation and looking into obtaining more evidence in order to catch these copper thieves. In the meantime, if you have any information on this case that leads to the identity and the arrest of this suspect or suspects, you will be eligible for a $1,000 cash reward. Between November 15, 2021, and December 3, 2021, the Midland County Sheriff’s Office has taken several theft reports regarding the theft of cattle fence panels from Pioneer Resources lease sites. The thefts have occurred off East County Road 160 between S. Highway 349 and FM 1213. Approximately 250 fence panels have been stolen, valued at $150 apiece. The total value stolen is over $39,000. If you have any information on this case that leads to the identity and the arrest of the suspect or suspects, you will be eligible for a $1,000 cash reward from Crime Stoppers, and another $1,000 from a private donor for a total of $2,000 CASH.
